Twin Arc Spray Coating Operation - Regulations

Q. We are looking at the installation of a twin wire arc spray coating operation and am wondering if, in your opinion, this operation would be regulated as surface coating operation or metal plating operation.

A. Twin arc metal spraying is not considered as a surface coating operation since the process does not emit volatile organic compounds, (VOC). I am not a plating expert, but somehow I doubt that you need to comply with plating regulations, because no chemicals are used in nthe process. I do, however, suggest that you confirm this.

Regards,

Ron Joseph
