Time after Sandblasting

Q. Is there an standard (ASTM, etc) to know how many time I can wait for mild steel before painting and after sandblasting to avoid corrosion or surface cleaning issues?

A. I haven't checked on this, but I would imagine the Steel Structures Painting Council (SSPC) does give guidance on this issue. In my opinion, the time after blasting depends on the environment in which the blasting takes place. If you are located in a dry climate you can wait considerably longer than if you are in a humid, or even worse, a marine environment. If you are blasting to a white metal finish the recommended time will be shorter that if you are trying to achieve a less stringent finish.

I believe you might be able to purchase SSPC standards online.
