Importing Painted Products

Q. I am a exporter from HK, and we are starting to develop different color of blender housing for our customer (It is spray painted). Please kindly advise where I can find regulation on allowed coating/paint that can ship into the US.

A. Thank you for your email. If you are exporting an already painted article for which the paint is fully dry and cured I don't believe that there are any restrictions on the paint itself. I do suggest, however, that the paint should have a lead content less than 0.6% wt/wt. In fact, if the paint has no lead or chromate in it, then that is even better. I do not know about any importing regulations for the blender housing itself.
