Selecting a Spray Gun

Q. What kind of spray gun is the most common gun for automatic car headlight coating? Is it possible to use electrostatic gun?

A. Conventional, HVLP spray guns and electrostatic bells can be used to paint car headlights on an automatic production line. You most certainly can use electrostatically charged guns, but you need to make special arrangements for this to work. The efficiency of the bells will depend on the design and material of the headlights, the resistivity of the coating, the voltage of the bell, the air velocity in the spray booth, and other parameters.
