Paint for Butyl Rubber

Q. Do you know of any paints designed to be use to coat butyl rubber?

A. You might try a waterborne coating such as an acrylic latex. You probably don't want to use a coating that contains solvents as they might cause the rubber products to leach out and stain the paint.

If you need a high performance coating I suggest you call Carboline. This company has a range of products that contain aluminum or micaceous iron oxide pigments that prevent bleading. After you have applied this "tie coat" you can often follow with a high performance topcoat, such as an epoxy or polyurethane.
