New Roughcast Finish

Q. How long should I leave a new roughcast finish wall before painting with exterior masonry paint?

A. You need to wait until the concrete/plaster is fully cured, usually 28 days. However, you should measure the a moisture content before proceeding. You might be able to purchase an inexpensive moisture meter online or perhaps you can rent one. If you are lucky, your friendly paint store might loan you one. Alternatively, you might be able to get moisture indicators by shopping online. Please read the paint vendor's recommendations for maximum moisture content before painting.
