VOC Exempt Solvents for Can Coatings

Q: Where can I find which solvents are VOC exempt in Can Coatings formulations?

A: The definition of VOC can be found on the EPA website (www.epa.gov) under regulation 40CFR51.100(s). To simplify your search I found the following link that summarizes the information you require www.cdpr.ca.gov/docs/pur/vocproj/2voc_exempt_list.pdf .

Please note that the definition applies to all regulations and not specifically to can coatings. If a solvent is not listed as being exempt then by default it is a regulated VOC.

Ron Joseph
