Marring or Marking of Matte Paints

Q. The subject paint on plastic surface even after 24 to 48 of ambient cure leaves marks on surface when very lightly the finger nails are moved on the painted surface. What could be the various reasons for this observation and what corrections need to be taken to avoid this?

A. Matte paints have so much pigment in them that they tend to polish or mar very easily. Without actually seeing the problem, I assume that the problem you are experiencing is due to this. Some resins and pigments are less prone to polishing than others, but you need to experiment with different paints. Also, if you are willing to use a more glossy paint you will quickly eliminate or lessen the problem.

Best wishes,
