Highly Acid Resistant Coating

Q. We need a highly acid resistant coating/paint for a polyurethane cover. What do you recommend? Acids we use near or in the machine include nitric acid, sulfuric acid.

Offhand I don't have an answer, but I suggest that you write to the folks at Carboline (www.carboline.com) or one of the other specialty coating companies. They all have coating selection charts from which you can identify the most appropriate coating. You will want to be able to know the concentration of the acids and if contact between the acid and the coating will be intermittent of continuous. You will also need to consider the temperature of the acids.

Best wishes,

Ron Joseph
