Q: We are painting on a pipeline bridge and have had a person claim that he has paint overspray on is car. His location is approximately 1.4 miles away from the site where we are painting. We are using a two part epoxy paint made by Wilko. The material is Wildothane gloss urethane enamal. they tell us that this is highly unlikely. What do you think? By the way, there is a body shop near his home. He has said the the body shop folks have overspray on their cars also. A: It is possible that you are causing overspray to deposit on cars, even though you are over a mile away. I have worked on a similar case in which overspray traveled over one mile before depositing; however, generally only the very small particles can travel that far. It is also quite likely that the body shop is the cause of their problem.
You would need to perform some tests and a paint analysis refute the person's claim. If you need further assistance in this matter please get back to me.
